REA
delivered one of their most mature and complete performances of the season,
earning a 0–0 draw against unbeaten PAOK at the Sochora Stadium for the
8th matchday of the Greek Women’s First Division.
Stelios
Kozanidis’ players became the first team this season to take points off PAOK,
and at the same time the first to keep them scoreless, in a match
defined by excellent tactical execution and incredible concentration from the
first to the last minute.
REA entered
the match with a clear goal: to limit PAOK’s strengths — and succeeded
completely. With outstanding defensive structure, compact lines, and perfect
spacing, the Rethymno side did not allow a single real threat inside their
penalty area throughout the entire match, apart from Wiehe’s shot that hit the
crossbar in the 31st minute. In fact, REA not only stayed safe defensively in
the first half, but also created the game’s biggest chances, missing two great
opportunities with Kotsaki (14’) and Kanellou (15’).
In the
second half, PAOK increased their tempo, won more second balls, and controlled
the midfield for a period, but never truly became dangerous, as REA neutralized
every attempt and held on to a massive result.
This
performance confirms REA’s steady improvement and sends a clear message that
the team can compete with any opponent this season. Every player under Stelios
Kozanidis played with heart, discipline, and full commitment to the tactical
plan.
Next week,
REA will travel to Athens to face Panathinaikos in another big derby.
