REA
suffered a 1–3 defeat to AEK at the Episkopi Stadium, in the 5th round of the
Greek Women’s First Division.
A very interesting and competitive match took place today, as the two teams
kicked off the 5th round of the championship. The visitors started the game
more aggressively, creating some early chances, while Tzoutzouraki hit the
crossbar in the 6th minute. In the 18th minute, Koggouli opened the scoring
from close range, and in the 41st minute, Violari doubled her team’s lead,
taking advantage of a defensive error by REA. However, Situma managed to reduce
the deficit to 1–2 in stoppage time, bringing excitement back into the game.
In the
second half, AEK rarely threatened our goal, focusing mainly on managing their
lead. On the contrary, our players pressed hard for an equalizer, but despite
having the ball mostly in AEK’s half, they couldn’t create a clear scoring
opportunity. Against the flow of the match, “Enosi” eventually found a third
goal, as Violari’s close-range header in the 85th minute sealed REA’s hopes.
Our team
will return to action on November 1st, hosting OFI at the Misiria
Stadium for the 6th round of the league.
REA would
like to warmly thank the Episkopi FC team and its president Michalis
Nikoloudakis for providing the stadium and their excellent hospitality, as
well as “Choriatiko” for the food offered to both teams after the match.
It’s also
worth noting that before kickoff and during halftime, the Gymnastics
Athletic Club Akalli and the Team Fourteen group, led by coach Liana
Georgopoulou, presented a general and acrobatic gymnastics program titled “Dark
Acro Motion”, performed by talented young girls.
