REA drew
2-2 against Kifisia at Sochora Stadium, in the context of the 20th matchday of
the Women’s First Division, in a game that left mixed feelings based on the
contrasting performances in the two halves.
Our team
delivered an excellent display in the first half, completely controlling the
tempo and taking an early lead. Just in the 4th minute, Bonnin opened
the scoring with a stunning free-kick, while in the 33rd minute Situma,
following a corner by Markoutsa, made it 2-0 with a close-range header. REA had
full control and created chances for more goals but failed to “kill off” the
match.
In the second half, the picture changed. Kifisia came out
stronger and reduced the deficit in the 48th minute through King, adding new
excitement to the match. Despite REA’s efforts to manage the lead, in the 71st
minute Gibson capitalized on an assist from King and equalized at 2-2 with a
diagonal shot.
In the remaining minutes, our team tried to respond and find
a winning goal, creating chances but failing to score. A key moment came in the
83rd minute, when Situma found herself in a scoring position but was
incorrectly flagged offside.
It is also worth noting the excellent performance of Sylvia
Katergiannaki, who with crucial saves kept the team standing at critical
moments of the match.
Despite dropping the win, REA once again showed its quality
and competitiveness, despite key absences (Kanellou, Nikopoulou, English),
continuing its effort in the league. In the next matchday, our team travels to
Thessaloniki to face PAOK in another demanding game.
