REA
celebrated their 11th league victory of the season with an emphatic 4–0 win
over Odysseas Moschato on Matchday 17 of the Women’s First Division. Facing a
strong and competitive side, Stelios Kozanidis’ players delivered one of their
best performances of the season—arguably their finest first half so far—sending
a clear message ahead of a demanding run of fixtures.
REA remain
firmly in 3rd place in the standings and continue their pursuit of AEK, who sit
five points ahead. The two teams will face off away from home next matchday in
a game of significant importance in the race for the top spots.
From the
opening minutes, our team played with intensity, pace, and composure, dictating
the tempo both defensively and offensively. The scoring opened in the 10th
minute when, following a free kick by Markoutsa and a low cross from Situma,
Kotsaki slotted into an empty net to make it 1–0. The pressure continued and in
the 28th minute Nigito capitalized on the rebound after Markoutsa’s direct free
kick struck the crossbar, making it 2–0. REA kept creating chances with
excellent circulation and combinations, and in the 43rd minute Ruzafa, after a
brilliant through ball from Kanellou, rounded the goalkeeper and calmly
finished to make it 3–0, effectively sealing the win before halftime.
The “icing
on the cake” came early in the second half. In the 49th minute, after Situma
won the ball in midfield and a quick counterattack involving Bonnin, Situma
finished the move herself with a composed strike to make it 4–0, scoring a
beautiful goal. In the 76th minute, the international forward nearly added
another with a powerful long-range shot that rattled the crossbar.
REA managed
their lead professionally, remained focused until the final whistle, and did
not allow Odysseas Moschato to become truly threatening, with Katergiannaki
stepping in whenever required.
With this result, our team extended their unbeaten run in
the league to ten consecutive matches (7 wins and 3 draws), confirming the
consistency and stability that have defined them this season.
Attention now turns to the big away derby against AEK, a
match that could reshape the standings and provide fresh momentum in the battle
for second place.
