REA suffered a 3-2 away defeat to Agia Paraskevi in the 23rd
round of the Women’s First Division, failing to return to winning ways despite
fighting back twice during the match.
Stelios Kozanidis’ side found themselves trailing early, as
Kroupa took advantage of a situation inside the box and scored from close range
in the 7th minute to make it 1-0. REA responded quickly, with Kapareli missing
a big chance in the 10th minute, while the equalizer eventually came in the
32nd minute. Following a corner kick, Bonnin delivered a cross into the box,
and Kotsaki was in the right place to finish from close range and make it 1-1.
However, the hosts regained the lead shortly after. In the
40th minute, Gkatsi converted from the penalty spot to make it 2-1, after
Nerimar had won the penalty. In the second half, REA pushed forward in search
of another equalizer, creating several chances, with Situma coming close in the
55th minute.
REA’s persistence paid off in the 75th minute, when a long
ball by Vorria led to a defensive error by Tzortzevits, who inadvertently sent
the ball into her own net for 2-2. Nevertheless, Agia Paraskevi responded once
again, with Kroupa scoring with a header in the 80th minute to make it 3-2.
In the closing stages, REA pressed for an equalizer and came
very close in the 92nd minute, when Kotsaki beat two defenders inside the box,
but a last-ditch defensive intervention denied her from scoring.
REA now turns its focus to the next match, where they will
host Volos NPS at Sochora Stadium for the 24th round of the league.
