REA played
its first friendly match of the current pre-season, two weeks after beginning
preparations for the new competitive season in the Greek Women’s A’ National
Division.
Our team
faced Aris Rethymno U19 at the Misiria Stadium, suffering a 2-0 defeat.
However, at this stage of the pre-season, the result clearly takes a back seat,
as the main objective of the game was to get the players back into match
rhythm, return to competitive conditions and allow the new coaching staff to
draw its first conclusions.
After two
weeks of daily work and training, Gianna Douka had the opportunity to
see her players in real match conditions, test different players and
formations, and assess how elements worked on during the previous days were
being transferred onto the pitch.
For REA,
this game essentially marked the beginning of a series of friendly matches to
come, as the team is still in the process of being built. The new signings are
continuing to integrate, the team’s automatisms are still developing, and the
main focus is on gradual improvement.
