A ceremonial
meeting between R.E.A. and His Eminence the Metropolitan of Rethymno and
Avlopotamos, Mr. Prodromos, took place in a particularly warm and cordial
atmosphere, in the presence of Protopresbyter Nikolaos Nikiforos, General
Archieratic Commissioner and priest of the Holy Metropolis of Rethymno and
Avlopotamos.
R.E.A. was
represented by club President Heraklis Manoukarakis, Board Member and
Head of the Public Relations Committee Gabriel Tsountanis, Head Coach Gianna
Douka, goalkeeper Eirini Manoukaraki, and Press Officer Nikos
Tzanidakis.
His Eminence
Metropolitan Prodromos warmly welcomed the R.E.A. family, receiving the team’s
representatives with great warmth and expressing his appreciation for the work
carried out by the club, as well as for its significant presence in the
sporting and social life of Rethymno.
Particular
emphasis was placed on R.E.A.’s important efforts to develop women’s football,
promote and nurture young female athletes, as well as on the broader social
role the club has developed within the local community. His Eminence
highlighted the importance of sport as a means of education, the creation of
positive role models, and the empowerment of the younger generation. He also
expressed the practical willingness of the Holy Metropolis of Rethymno and
Avlopotamos to stand by R.E.A.’s side and provide its assistance and support
whenever requested by the club.
For their
part, the R.E.A. representatives warmly thanked His Eminence for the warm
welcome, his words of affection and appreciation, as well as for his
willingness to support the team’s efforts whenever called upon.
The meeting
took place on the very day R.E.A. began its preparations for the new 2026-27
season. His Eminence Metropolitan Prodromos gave his blessing to the team, the
players, the coaching staff, and everyone involved with the club, wishing them
health, strength, and success in achieving their goals for the new season.
