Rethymnian Athletes’ Union (R.E.A.) bids farewell with deep emotion and utmost
respect to Eleftheria Dafermou, an iconic athlete for Rethymno football and
Women’s Football in Greece.
For nearly
two decades, Eleftheria has served the sport with unparalleled integrity,
dedication, and passion—paving the way and inspiring generations of girls to
follow in her footsteps. From the founding of R.E.A. to this day, she has been
the heart and soul of our team—not only as a player and captain, but as a
person.
Her
contribution extends far beyond the pitch, where she offered countless
unforgettable moments, stunning goals, and decisive assists. She played a vital
role in establishing our Academy, sharing her knowledge, experience, and
inspiration to help shape the future of women’s football in Rethymno.
Eleftheria
is—and will always be—one of the most important figures in Cretan football. Her
decision to begin a new chapter in her life finds the entire R.E.A. family
standing by her side, with heartfelt gratitude for all she has given.
Eleftheria,
thank you for your journey, your example, and the spirit you poured into
everything over the years. Your mark will remain indelible in our team’s
history.
We wish you
all the best in every next step—on and off the field. This will always
be your home.
