AO REA expresses its strong dissatisfaction with the sudden decision by ERT not to proceed with the broadcast of the scheduled match Agia Paraskevi – REA, part of the 23rd round of the Women’s First Division Championship, which is set to take place today, April 25, at 13:45.
This development was communicated only the previous day, raising reasonable questions and causing disruption, as our team’s planning had been fully structured based on the television broadcast, as предусмотрed in the relevant agreement.
We remind that, according to ERT’s agreement with the Women’s Championship, a weekly match broadcast is предусмотрed, aiming to promote and develop the sport. Failure to adhere to this framework—especially with such short notice—creates inconsistency and undermines the collective effort to elevate women’s football.
At the same time, this decision raises concerns as to whether the sport is being treated with the required seriousness and equality. It is reasonable to question whether a similar development would occur as easily in other leagues or in matches with different levels of exposure.
REA has consistently supported the development of women’s football and seeks cooperation with all stakeholders in this direction. However, actions of this kind do not contribute to that effort.
At the same time, we are making every possible effort, in cooperation with the team of Agia Paraskevi, to ensure that the match will be available via live streaming, so that fans of the sport can watch the game.
We await a responsible response from ERT, as well as assurances that similar incidents will not be repeated in the future, for the benefit of the sport and all teams that serve it with consistency and professionalism.
