A.O. R.E.A.
is delighted to announce the signing of Avery Klingensmith, who will strengthen
our squad ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The
23-year-old American footballer (born on November 17, 2003) primarily plays as
a defensive and central midfielder. She is a player with outstanding athletic
attributes, a strong football education, and valuable experience from the
highly competitive American collegiate system.
Avery
stands out for her dynamic presence in midfield, the intensity she brings to
the game, her tactical awareness, and her ability to control the tempo of a
match. She possesses excellent technical skills, is effective in one-on-one
duels, strong in aerial battles, and particularly dangerous from set pieces.
Her confidence with both feet allows her to provide solutions in a variety of
situations on the pitch.
She joins
REA from American University (NCAA Division I), where she enjoyed an impressive
four-year career, appearing in every single match and accumulating a total of
4,225 minutes of playing time. During her senior season, she earned Patriot
League All-League Second Team honors and was also recognized for her academic
excellence with consecutive selections to the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
In
addition, she has achieved significant success both in collegiate and youth
soccer in the United States. In 2019, she won the US Club Soccer National
Championship with New England Futbol Club. Her résumé also includes
All-American, All-Region, and All-State honors, confirming her status as a
player of high quality and great potential.
The REA
family welcomes Avery Klingensmith to Rethymno and wishes her health, strength,
and many successes in our club’s colors.
AVERY
KLINGENSMITH: “REA WAS THE PERFECT CHOICE FOR MY DEVELOPMENT”
“I decided
to move to Rethymno and join REA because I felt it was the right opportunity
for both my personal and professional growth. I am excited by the chance to
experience a new country, compete in a strong league, and be part of a
community that is truly passionate about football.
From my
conversations with the club, it became clear that REA has strong ambitions for
the upcoming season, a very positive environment, and a genuine commitment to
helping players develop and improve.
My goal for
the upcoming season is to help the team achieve a successful campaign. I want
to contribute in every way possible on the field while continuing to develop as
a player and helping REA accomplish its objectives.”
